I hope this message meets you well and hope you had a great 4th of July.
As I reflect on the first half of this year and focus on the remainder of the year, which I’m certain will go even faster than the first half, it suddenly dawned on me that we are less than 18 months away from the Year 2020.
Year 2020 seemed so far away when we crossed over to the new millennium in 2000, especially for those of us that were around in technology or perhaps Information Security when we dealt with Y2K or at least tried to!
By coincidence or happenstance, most of my work in the first half of this year was geared towards achieving the following goals by Year 2020!
Here is a brief synopsis of my accomplishments this year to date:
- For a CISO friend of mine at the financial services industry, I assessed the current state maturity of their Information Security Program against NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF) 1.1 and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) resulting in an 18 month (July 2018 to December 2019) continuous improvement plan/roadmap.
- For a well-funded vehicle subscription SaaS/Mobile App startup hosted on Amazon Web Services PaaS/IaaS, as their part time vCISO I assessed the current state maturity of their Information Security Program against NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF) 1.0 and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) resulting in an 18 month (July 2018 to December 2019) continuous improvement plan/roadmap.
- For a small niche market family owned marketing company, my team assessed the current state maturity of their Information Security Program against ISO/IEC 27002 controls and CMMI resulting in an 18 month (July 2018 to December 2019) continuous improvement plan/roadmap.
- For my own bootstrap SaaS/Mobile App startup (CloudeAssurance) hosted on Microsoft Azure PaaS/IaaS, after reading the book “Play Bigger” I realized that “Company Design” was equally as important as “Category Design” and “Product Design” that had been my focus since launching this innovative platform in early 2012, being selected to participate in the largest startup accelerator gave my team and I the opportunity to fine tune our “Company Design” and be able to articulate our Category, Product and Company Design in a 5 minute pitch video at the Plug & Play Expo Day. This positions us to raise Series A funding of $5 million and scale our revenue to $25 million by 2020!
Why am I sharing all these with you? It’s simply because I’d love to hear your own story as it relates to “Your Own 2020 Vision”. As the saying goes, if we fail to plan, we plan to fail!
If you’d like to schedule a 1-on-1 call with me in the next couple of weeks? Holla at me!
Alternatively, if you’d like to learn about the proven approach, methodologies and tools that I utilized in performing these current state maturity assessments, let me know so I can send you more information about upcoming invite-only Webinars I’m hosting in the next coming weeks or if you prefer to receive the recording link post event.
Regards,
Taiye.
